Aleppo soap with frankincense

The Aleppo soap frankincense by Najel is a small, decorative Aleppo soap made from saponified olive oil and laurel oil with frankincense resin (Boswellia Carterii Gum). The shape is random: heart, teardrop, or round.

Scent: warm and balsamic of frankincense.

For cleansing hands and body – or as a scented soap in the linen closet.

Handmade in Aleppo, Syria, according to a traditional recipe. Each piece may vary slightly in shape and color. 20 g, without packaging.

Good to know

Aleppo soap is one of the oldest soaps in the world. Traditionally, olive oil is saponified with laurel oil in large cauldrons, the soap mass is poured out on the floor, cut into pieces, and then aged in the air for months. During this process, the soap turns golden brown on the outside, while it remains olive green on the inside. The higher the proportion of laurel oil, the more intense the typical spicy aroma.

Najel is a French-Syrian brand that has been producing Aleppo soap and personal care products around the tradition of the Orient for many years.

Frequently asked questions

What does the percentage value for the laurel oil mean?
It indicates how much laurel oil was saponified in relation to the olive oil. 5% is mild and for everyday use, 12% is well suited for combination skin, 30–40% are the variants with the highest laurel content.

How long does a bar of soap last?
This depends on use. If the soap can dry well between uses (soap dish or magnetic soap holder), it lasts significantly longer.

Directions

  • Moisten the skin with water.
  • Lather the soap between your hands or apply directly to the face, hands, or body.
  • Massage gently and rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Pat the skin dry with a towel.
  • In the linen closet: Place the soap between linens or clothing.

Tip: Store the soap dry between uses, for example on a soap dish – this will make it last longer.

Note: Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with water.

Ingredients at a glance

  • Saponified olive oil (Sodium Olivate) – the classic base of Aleppo soap – is created when olive oil is processed into soap, and provides a gentle cleanse.
  • Glycerin – retains moisture in the skin and ensures a supple skin feel.
  • Frankincense resin – provides the warm, balsamic scent.
  • Saponified laurel oil (Sodium Laurelate) – a typical component of Aleppo soap; the proportion of laurel oil gives each Aleppo soap its character and its spicy distinctive scent.
