Nagar Motha(Cyperus scariosus), a perennial plant of the Cyperaceae family with a characteristic spicy scent and dark rhizomes, is one of the most mysterious Ayurvedic ingredients – a key component of the legendary Chyawanprash, the "elixir of long life", first mentioned in a 500-year-old Chinese medical book. As an adaptogenic plant, Nagar Motha adapts to the individual needs of the skin and scalp: It inhibits or stimulates the sebaceous glands as needed and thus restores physiological balance. For the hair, it has a cleansing, refreshing, volumizing and polishing effect – strengthens the roots and adds nutty highlights. Application

For the hair

Mix Nagarkotha powder with very hot water. Add other herbs, clay, or oils as desired.
Cover the container and let macerate for 20 minutes.
Apply the paste to dry or damp hair and massage in with gentle circular motions.
Leave on for 20–50 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly. Finally, rinse with water and a little vinegar – for soft, shiny hair.

As a face mask

Apply the paste to the face – ideal in combination with ghassoul and honey.
Leave on for 10–15 minutes– keep the mask moist; do not let it dry out. If necessary, moisten with water or hydrosols.
Rinse off with lukewarm water.
