Gond Katira(Astragalus gummifer), also known as Tragacanth Gum, is a natural dry exudate from plants of the genus Astragalus. The term "Adragante" comes from Greek and means "goat thorn" – the whitish latex of the plant resembles goat wool. As a cosmetic raw material, Gond Katira is used for thickening and gelling. For hair, it is a full-fledged alternative to conditioner and hair cream: makes hair stronger, shinier and more voluminous, repairs cuticle damage and tames dry, brittle or unruly hair. For the skin, it has antiseptic and emollient properties – ideal for very dry skin, sunburns and cracks. As a universal gel basefor herbal and clay masks as well as henna applications, it is indispensable. Vegan OK – Tested for heavy metals.

Application

Gel preparation

Approx. 5 g powder in 75 ml watersoak and leave overnight– yields a gel-like consistency.
For a creamier, easier-to-apply texture: blend the gel with a mixer.
Store the gel for up to 10 days in the refrigerator(in a sealed jar) or freeze it.

For the hair

Apply the gel to clean, damp hair – distribute from the roots to the ends with a comb.
Cover with plastic wrap and leave on for 15–60 minutesuntil the hair has hardened.
Rinse out without shampoo.
As a styling gel:Work a small amount into the hair with your fingers before drying – do not rinse out.
As a herbal base:Use Gond Katira gel instead of water for herbal or henna packs, or add it to herbal and clay masks as desired.

As a face mask

Mix the gel with clay or herbs.
Leave on for 10–15 minutes– keep the mask moist; do not let it dry. If necessary, moisten with water or hydrosol.
Rinse off with lukewarm water.
