Brahmi Powder for Hair Care

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), named after the Hindu creator god Brahma, is a perennial herb of the Plantaginaceae family – an aquatic succulent with large leaves and white flowers, which grows in the wetlands of Northeast India. Rooted in the Ayurvedic tradition for over 3,000 years, Brahmi acts on the brain cells: improves memory, concentration, learning ability, mental sharpness and stress management – recommended for children, adolescents, students and seniors. For the hair, Brahmi is one of the most effective Ayurvedic hair revitalizers: against hair loss, thinning hair, dandruff and premature graying – strengthens roots and shafts and stimulates hair growth. Application

For the hair

Mix Brahmi powder with boiling water to a yogurt-like consistency. Add other herbs as desired – synergistic effect with Amla, Bhringraj, Shikakai, Tulsi and/or Neem.
Cover the container and let macerate for 20 minutes.
Apply the paste to dry or slightly damp hair and massage in with gentle circular motions. Work into the lengths as well.
Leave on for 20–50 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly. If necessary, follow with a mild, diluted shampoo. Finally, rinse with water and a little vinegar – for soft, shiny hair.
Recommendation: Initially use Brahmi in small quantities and gradually increase the amount and application time.

As a face mask

Mix Brahmi with clay and other herbs and mix with a hydrosol such as rose water.
Leave on for 10–15 minutes– keep the mask moist, do not let it dry. If necessary, moisten with water or aromatic water.
For particularly dry skin, add a few drops of argan oil to the mixture.
Rinse off with lukewarm water.
