MOSSA was founded in Latvia in 2014 by MÁDARA, one of the leading natural cosmetics brands in the Baltics, and is still produced there today. The name means 'moss' and symbolizes the soft, green vegetation in which the Nordic berries used in the formulas grow. The formulas are developed by Latvian and Finnish skincare experts, inspired by the Nordic way of life and the region's ancient healing traditions.
What does the ECOCERT or COSMOS certification actually mean for MOSSA?
Both seals guarantee that the products contain at least 95% natural ingredients and are completely free of synthetic fragrances, parabens, silicones, or mineral oils. What do the Nordic berries in the formulas actually do for my skin?
Blueberry, sea buckthorn, cranberry, and similar berries grow in the harsh Nordic climate, which is why they develop especially high levels of antioxidants and vitamins to protect themselves. These properties carry over into skincare: the extracts help protect skin against free radicals, support regeneration, and provide moisture. Can I use the vitamin C serum (Glow Cocktail) on sensitive skin too?
Vitamin C can cause a slight tingling at first on very sensitive or irritated skin, which is normal but shouldn't be mistaken for burning. We recommend starting with two to three evening applications a week and slowly increasing the frequency. For strongly irritated skin, the soothing Derma+ Instant Calming Serum is often the better starting point. After using vitamin C, sun protection should always be part of your daytime routine, since skin can become more light-sensitive.
Does a natural sunscreen like 365 Days Defence protect just as well as a chemical one?
Yes, mineral or natural filters like those in MOSSA's 365 Days Defence provide reliable UV protection and are often also better tolerated, since they sit on top of the skin rather than being absorbed into it. With mineral filters, the main thing is to apply enough and evenly, since they can be a bit thicker than classic chemical sunscreens.
